S: 老师,be full of 作后置定语时,就没有be动词了？为什么？比如：

His face full of confidence looks much younger .

T: 此句来源于主系表结构的定语从句的简化：

His face which is full of confidence looks much younger.=

His face (being) full of confidence looks much younger.

S: 定语从句可以简化成分词短语作后置定语，若定从是主系表句型，简化后，现在分词being可省，就成了形容词短语作后置定语。

T: 分析得很好！

所以结论是：形容词短语做后置定语，就是主系表(adj.)结构的定语从句的简化 （定语从句可以是限制性或非限制性的，且句中表语为形容词。）

总结一下：

adj.短语作后置定语的六种情况

1. be+ adj.+prep.结构

The book, which is worthy of reading , sells well.

= The book, worthy of reading, sells well.

2. be+ adj.+to do结构

The boy who is afraid to swim is Tom’s friend.=

The boy afraid to swim is Tom’s friend.

3. be+adj+enough + to do结构

We have a meeting room that is large enough to hold 200 people.=

We have a meeting room large enough to hold 200 people.

4.be+so/too+adj.+to do

I met two problems which are too difficult to solve.=

I met two problems too difficult to solve.

Don’t ask the questions which are so easy to answer.=

Don’t ask the questions so easy to answer.

5.be+adj-er+than或as+adj.+as

She is a girl who is as clever as Mary.

=She is a girl as clever as Mary.

=She is as clever a girl as Mary.

The boy who is taller than me is my best friend.=

The boy taller than me is my best friend.

6.be+adj.+and/or/but+adj.

She has many pens , which are blue and black.=

She has many pens , blue and black.=

She has many blue and black pens .

(并列的两个形容词可前置也可后置）
